What to do after a crash
- Check everyone is safe. Call 000 if anyone is hurt or the road is blocked.
- Turn on your hazard lights and move clear of traffic if it’s safe to do so.
- Swap details with the other driver: name, phone number, rego and insurer.
- Take photos of the vehicles, the scene and the damage.
- Call us on 0406 573 099 with your location and where the vehicle needs to go.
How we handle accident vehicles
After a crash, a vehicle often can’t roll, steer or brake properly. We use a tilt tray, so the vehicle is winched onto the deck and strapped down by the wheels instead of being dragged on its own tyres. That protects what’s left of the car and avoids adding damage during the tow.
We can take the vehicle to your home, a smash repairer you choose, or an assessment centre your insurer nominates. Tell us the destination when you call and we’ll talk you through the cost before we set off.

Frequently asked questions
Can you tow my car to my own smash repairer?
Yes. Tell us where it needs to go when you call. If your insurer wants the car at a particular assessment centre, check with them first and we’ll take it there.
Will my insurance pay for the tow?
Many comprehensive policies cover towing after an accident, but it depends on your policy. Check with your insurer and keep your receipt for your claim.
What if the car won’t roll or a wheel is damaged?
That’s what a tilt tray is for. We winch the vehicle onto the deck and secure it, so it doesn’t need to roll freely.
